About the University Stockholm University offers a wide range of education in close interaction with research. The first Montessori class was started in Stockholm in 1920 by Mabel Holm, and the first Montessori preschool was started in 1923 by Anna Pallin. In 1936 a Montessori preschool started in Gothenburg. In time it became a Montessori Primary school and today it is a Montessori inspired school with 1500 students from 1-18 years of age. Stockholm International School (SIS) is the longest established and most prestigious international school in Stockholm. For over 60 years we have been developing educational excellence, social responsibility and personal integrity in decisively international students.
Our students come from a great diversity of countries; many are growing up in bilingual families. The children in Montessori classroom are '"Vertical grouped", they are not grouped according to their ages.There is made up of children of mixed ages, raging from 2.5 years to 6 years old and share the same classroom with the same teacher. The mixed-age grouping of children give an excellent opportunity to children to interact in a variety ways. Alpha Montessori is one of the only schools that has a fully vegetarian menu at our Plano campus and a vegetarian option at our Frisco campus.
